Welcome to The Latin America and Caribbean Chapter of AILA

Our Vision

Our Chapter was formed to address the needs of immigration attorneys, with respect to legal issues relating to the Latin America and the Caribbean jurisdiction. Specific areas of concern are vetted through AILA National, and information dissemination will be ongoing through an open chapter listserve. The Chapter provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, practices, and jurisdiction-specific issues, including a rich resource for accessing local counsel in the jurisdiction.

Our Mission

Simply put, our mission is to educate and network. The Chapter will host a variety of web seminars and live conferences dealing with regional and international issues. We also hold in-person and telephonic general membership and committee meetings, offer education in substantive, procedural, and practice matters, while addressing issues which are important to the Chapter’s members. The Chapter also arranges tours and visits to Consular and DHS offices located within the Chapter’s jurisdiction. The Chapter develops relationships and disseminates appropriate AILA information to officials in these offices, while keeping AILA and Chapter members informed, in “real-time,” of changes in government policies and practices. And of great importance, the Chapter serves as a resource for its members to know, mentor, and network with one another, whether far or near.
