Welcome to The Latin America and Caribbean Chapter of AILA

MESSAGE FROM CHAPTER CHAIR, RAMON CURIEL

Welcome to the 2019 – 2021 term of the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of AILA. As your new Chapter Chair, I look forward to an exciting term of active liaison with the consular posts, free webinars for our membership, and the exciting CLE in Quito, Ecuador. More to come, and thanks for supporting me! Please feel free to contact me at ramon@osgclaw.com with any ideas or suggestions to improve our Chapter. Here’s what we have planned for this year:

CLE COMMITTEE

CLE 2019 Quito Life in the Fast Line

Registration is now open for our annual conference.

Our CLE Committee Chair is Tammy Fox. We have an exciting CLE planned in Quito, Ecuador, November 21 – 23, 2019. The CLE will cover advanced topics and we have expert speakers to dig into complex subjects. Go to our Events page for more information.

In addition, we will continue to plan and host free members-only webinars every other month. Linda Rose, Marcine Seid, and Bryon Large (Technical Support Expert) will serve on the webinar committee. These webinars cover a variety of topics including consular practice, litigation, visa issues, and other topics of interest to our members. Email Linda Rose at lrose@roseimmigration.com to suggest a topic. And to make sure we continue to meet, greet, and network as an international chapter, Maite Hoyos and Marisa Casablanca will plan dinners and social events to facilitate our continued communication.

DOS COMMITTEE
This year our DOS committee will be chaired by Leigh Granchan. Marisa Casablanca will chair the Venezuelan Task Force. Ramon Curiel will chair the Consular Spotlight. With the assistance of other enterprising committee members, we will publish alerts and practice advisories on various consulates within our jurisdiction.

CBP and USCIS COMMITTEE
This committee is chaired by Lynn Lee. We will schedule meetings with CBP as available, with focus on pre-flight inspections at airports within our jurisdiction. And watch for practice advisories from our experienced members.

MEDIA
Our Media Liaison Chair Bryon Large will help our Chapter stay connected through Instagram and Twitter.
